Breath control has three movements: outward, inward and held still. Observed by place, duration and count, the breath becomes long and subtle.
What it means
Patanjali gives a practical method: watch where the breath goes, how long it lasts, and count it. Simple observation, done patiently, naturally makes breathing slower, deeper and more refined.
Spoken by Patanjali.
