bhanuprabhasanjanit-abhrapanktih bhanum tirodhaya vijrimbhate yatha
atm-oditahankritir atmatattvam tatha tirodhaya vijrimbhate svayam
भानुप्रभासञ्जनिताभ्रपङ्क्तिः भानुं तिरोधाय विजृम्भते यथा ।
आत्मोदिताहङ्कृतिरात्मतत्त्वं तथा तिरोधाय विजृम्भते स्वयम् ॥
Just as a bank of clouds produced by the sun's own rays spreads out and hides the sun, the ego, which arises from the Self, spreads and hides the truth of the Self.

जैसे सूरज की ही किरणों से बने बादल फैलकर सूरज को ढँक देते हैं, वैसे ही आत्मा से उपजा अहंकार फैलकर आत्मा के सत्य को ढँक लेता है।
अहंकार हमारी ही रोशनी से बनता है, फिर भी उसी रोशनी को रोक देता है। हमारी अपनी छवि इतनी बड़ी हो सकती है कि हमारा असली रूप छिप जाए।
