dandena cha praja raksha ma cha dandam akarane
प्रीतोऽस्मि परमोदारकर्ता चासि न संशयः।
दण्डेन च प्रजा रक्ष मा च दण्डमकारणे॥
I am pleased; you will do great things, no doubt. Protect the people with justice, but never punish without reason.
What it means
Manu's advice to his son Ikshvaku, founder of Rama's dynasty. Authority exists to protect, not to harass. Discipline must be fair and must have a reason, at home, at work or in society.हिंदी में अर्थ
मैं प्रसन्न हूँ; तुम महान कार्य करोगे, इसमें संदेह नहीं। दंड से प्रजा की रक्षा करना, पर बिना कारण कभी दंड मत देना।
राम के वंश के संस्थापक इक्ष्वाकु को मनु की सीख। अधिकार रक्षा के लिए है, सताने के लिए नहीं। अनुशासन घर, दफ़्तर या समाज में न्यायपूर्ण और सकारण होना चाहिए।
