yah pashchat poorvakaryani kuryad aishvaryam asthitah
poorvam ch-ottarakaryani na sa veda nayanayau
यः पश्चात्पूर्वकार्याणि कुर्यादैश्वर्यमास्थितः।
पूर्वं चोत्तरकार्याणि न स वेद नयानयौ॥
A ruler who, proud of his power, does later what should come first, and first what should come later, does not understand right policy from wrong.
What it means
Kumbhakarna scolds Ravana for acting first and thinking later. Getting the order of things right, planning before acting, matters as much as the action itself. Pride often skips the thinking step.हिंदी में अर्थ
जो सत्ता के घमंड में पहले करने वाले काम बाद में और बाद वाले काम पहले करता है, वह सही और गलत नीति में भेद नहीं जानता।
कुंभकर्ण रावण को डाँटता है कि उसने पहले किया, बाद में सोचा। सही क्रम, यानी पहले योजना फिर काम, उतना ही ज़रूरी है जितना काम। घमंड अक्सर सोचने का कदम छोड़ देता है।
