pita hi bhavati jyeshtho dharmam aryasya janatah
tasya padau graheeshyami sa heedaneem gatir mama
पिता हि भवति ज्येष्ठो धर्ममार्यस्य जानतः।
तस्य पादौ ग्रहीष्यामि स हीदानीं गतिर्मम॥
For someone who understands the noble way, an elder brother becomes a father. I will hold his feet; he is now my only refuge.
What it means
Bharata learns his father has died and turns at once to Rama. When a parent is gone, an elder sibling often carries that role. Honouring them, and leaning on them, keeps a family standing.हिंदी में अर्थ
जो श्रेष्ठ मर्यादा को समझता है, उसके लिए बड़ा भाई पिता के समान होता है। मैं उनके चरण पकड़ूँगा, अब वही मेरा सहारा हैं।
पिता की मृत्यु का समाचार सुनकर भरत तुरंत राम का सहारा ढूँढते हैं। माता-पिता के न रहने पर बड़े भाई-बहन वह जगह लेते हैं। उनका सम्मान परिवार को जोड़े रखता है।
