Valmiki Ramayana 1.2.14 meaning

ma nishada pratishtham tvam agamah shashvateem samah yat kraunchamithunad ekam avadheeh kamamohitam

O hunter, may you never find rest or honour for endless years, since you killed one of this pair of krauncha birds while they were lost in love.

What it means
This is called the first verse of Sanskrit poetry, spoken in a burst of grief. It reminds us that harming the innocent, especially those lost in love, is never a small thing.

Spoken by Valmiki.
