When discernment blossoms and the mind becomes balanced, thirst calms down. But in deep attachment it spreads even further. Even the king of the gods, anxious that age will eat away his power, becomes a vessel of this thirst.

What it means
More power does not cure craving; even those at the top worry about losing what they have. Only clear seeing and a steady mind cool the thirst. Balance, not abundance, is the real remedy.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
