Searching through the three worlds since the beginning of time, my friend, we have never seen or heard of anyone like the person who can tie the mind, a wild elephant drunk with deep pride and chasing the she-elephant of pleasures, to the post of self-control.

What it means
Controlling the mind is one of the rarest achievements. If you manage even a little self-control over cravings and pride, you are doing something genuinely difficult. Celebrate small victories over yourself.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
