This earth has not been free even for a moment from being enjoyed by hundreds of kings. What great honour is there for rulers in gaining it? Yet foolish lords, owning a fraction of a fraction of it, rejoice when they should be sad.

यह धरती एक पल के लिए भी सैकड़ों राजाओं के भोग से खाली नहीं रही। इसे पा लेने में राजाओं का कैसा बड़ा सम्मान? फिर भी मूर्ख स्वामी इसके एक अंश के भी छोटे से टुकड़े के मालिक बनकर, जहाँ दुखी होना चाहिए, वहाँ खुश होते हैं।
जो कुछ तुम्हारा है, वह तुमसे पहले बहुतों का था और बाद में बहुतों का होगा। साझी दुनिया के छोटे से हिस्से पर घमंड क्यों? उसे विनम्रता से, कुछ समय के रखवाले की तरह संभालो।
