Long ago, great-hearted lords created this world; others held it, and others conquered it and gave it away like a blade of grass. Even now, heroes enjoy all fourteen worlds. So why this fever of pride in men who own just a few towns?

What it means
Whatever we achieve, someone before us has done far more and let it go easily. Seeing the bigger picture cures arrogance. Be proud of your work, but never let a small success inflate your ego.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
