Fruit is enough to eat, water is sweet enough to drink, the earth is a bed, and tree bark is clothing. I cannot bring myself to accept the bad manners of wicked people whose senses are all dizzy from drinking the liquor of new wealth.

What it means
When your needs are simple, you do not have to tolerate disrespect to survive. Keeping life simple gives you the freedom to stay away from people drunk on new money or power.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
