arthanam eeshishe tvam vayam api cha giram eeshmahe yavadartham shooras tvam vadidarpa-vyupashamanavidhav akshayam patavam nah sevante tvam dhanadhya matimalahataye mam api shrotukama mayy apy astha na te chet tvayi mama nitaram eva rajann anastha

अर्थानामीशिषे त्वं वयमपि च गिरामीश्महे यावदर्थं शूरस्त्वं वादिदर्पव्युपशमनविधावक्षयं पाटवं नः सेवन्ते त्वां धनाढ्या मतिमलहतये मामपि श्रोतुकामा मय्यप्यास्था न ते चेत्त्वयि मम नितरामेव राजन्ननास्था॥

You rule over wealth; we rule over words and their meanings. You are brave in battle; we are endlessly skilled at calming the pride of debaters. The rich serve you; people serve me to clear their minds. If you have no regard for me, O king, I have none at all for you.

What it means

Different people hold different kinds of power: money, force, knowledge. Do not shrink just because someone has more of one kind. Respect should flow both ways, and you are allowed to walk away when it does not.

हिंदी में अर्थ

तुम धन के स्वामी हो, हम वाणी और उसके अर्थ के। तुम युद्ध में वीर हो, हममें विरोधियों का घमंड शांत करने की अचूक कुशलता है। अमीर तुम्हारी सेवा करते हैं, तो लोग मन का मैल धोने के लिए मुझे सुनना चाहते हैं। हे राजन, अगर तुम्हें मेरी कद्र नहीं, तो मुझे भी तुम्हारी बिल्कुल परवाह नहीं।

अलग-अलग लोगों के पास अलग ताकत होती है: पैसा, बल, ज्ञान। किसी के पास एक चीज़ ज़्यादा है तो खुद को छोटा मत समझो। सम्मान दोतरफ़ा हो, नहीं तो दूर हटना ठीक है।
