Pleasures are as unsteady as breaking tall waves. Life can be destroyed in a moment. The joy and energy of youth lasts only a few days. Wise teachers, seeing that this whole world has no lasting substance, should set their minds on helping people with a gentle, caring heart.

What it means
Knowing that life is short should not make you cold; it should make you kind. If pleasures and youth fade, spend your energy where it truly counts: helping others with a warm and patient heart.
