I dug up the ground hoping for treasure, melted mountain rocks for metal, crossed the ocean, worked hard to please kings, and spent nights in cremation grounds chanting mantras. I did not get even a broken coin. Craving, now leave me alone!

What it means
Some chases bring nothing, no matter how many shortcuts or schemes you try. At some point the wise move is to stop feeding the hunger itself, instead of trying yet another way to satisfy it.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
