Among those who love, Shiva shines, sharing half his body with his beloved. Among the detached, no one is greater than him, free of all attachment. The rest of us, struck by desire's arrows like snake venom and mocked by longing, can neither enjoy pleasures nor give them up.

What it means
Shiva shows two complete ways of living: wholehearted love and wholehearted freedom. Most of us get stuck in between, half-chasing and half-guilty. Whatever path you walk, walk it fully rather than living torn.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
