Subhashitas Subhashita 513 meaning

kah kam shakto rakshitum mrityukale rajjuchchede ke ghatam dharayanti evam lokas tulyadharmo vananam kale kale chidyate ruhyate cha

Who can save whom when death arrives? When the rope breaks, who can hold up the pot in the well? The world is just like a forest: in its own time it is cut down, and in its own time it grows again.

What it means
Some losses no one could have prevented. Guilt that says 'I should have stopped it' often has no basis. Like a forest after cutting, life regrows around loss. Be gentle with yourself while it does.

Spoken by Bhāsa.
