Subhashitas Subhashita 508 meaning

avagachchati moodhachetanah priyanasham hridi shalyam arpitam sthiradhees tu tad eva manyate kushaladvarataya samuddhritam

A confused mind feels the loss of a loved one as an arrow lodged in the heart. A steady mind sees the same loss as an arrow pulled out, a doorway to a better state.

What it means
Grief is real and must be felt. But in time the same loss can teach, soften and open us to deeper understanding. Healing is not forgetting the arrow; it is slowly letting it be drawn out.

Spoken by Kālidāsa.
