Subhashitas Subhashita 494 meaning

vagarthav iva sampriktau vagarthapratipattaye jagatah pitarau vande parvateeparameshvarau

To gain the gift of word and meaning, I bow to Parvati and Parameshvara, the parents of the world, who are joined together like a word and its meaning.

What it means
Kalidasa's famous opening sees Shiva and Parvati as inseparable as a word and what it means. Before any creative work, it helps to pause and bow: to God, to teachers, to the source of every good idea.

Spoken by Kālidāsa.
