King Dilipa says to the lion: the proud word 'kshatriya' is known across the worlds as 'one who saves from harm'. For someone who acts against that, what use is a kingdom, or a life stained with disgrace?

What it means
Dilipa offers his own body to save a cow in his care. Every role we hold, as parent, officer, doctor or friend, carries a promise to protect. Living up to it matters more than comfort or even safety.

Spoken by Kālidāsa.
