O trees of the hermitage: she who would not drink water until you were watered, who loved ornaments yet never plucked your leaves out of love for you, who celebrated when you first bloomed, that Shakuntala goes to her husband's home. Please give her your leave.

What it means
Shakuntala treats trees as siblings, feeding them before herself. Imagine living with that tenderness toward the plants, animals and places that raise us. Water your plants, protect your trees; they are family too.

Spoken by Kālidāsa.
