Subhashitas Subhashita 469 meaning

navapraval-odgama-sasyaramyah praphullalodhrah paripakvashalih vileenapadmah prapatattusharo hemantakalah samupagatoyam

Winter has arrived: lovely with fresh shoots and green crops, with lodhra trees in bloom and rice ripened, while the lotuses have faded and the frost is falling.

What it means
Every season takes something and gives something: the lotus fades, but the rice ripens. When a phase of life ends, look for what has just become ready to harvest instead of only mourning what wilted.

Spoken by Kālidāsa.
