Even after a sacrifice is over, you stay awake to give its fruit to those who performed it. How could an action that has already vanished bear fruit, without the Supreme being honoured? Seeing you as the guarantor of results, people trust the scriptures and commit firmly to good work.

What it means
Your good actions may seem to disappear once done, but they are not lost. Pushpadanta sees the Divine as the one who keeps the account. That trust makes it easier to keep doing good without instant reward.

Spoken by Pushpadanta.
