bhoorja taru sam sant kripala parahit niti sah bipati bisala
Good people endure hardship for others' sake; the wicked, unfortunate ones, live to cause others pain. The kind-hearted are like the birch tree, which gives its own bark for others and bears great suffering for their good.
What it means
Some people sacrifice their own comfort so others can be okay — like the birch tree giving its bark for paper. If you know such people, honour them. If you can, become one.How it helps in real life
- With family: Your mother gave up her own needs for years so you could study. Book her the trip she always wanted, and go with her.
- Helping others: Donate blood at the next office drive, or give up a weekend to tutor kids nearby. A small sacrifice of comfort goes a long way.
