jatha pankh binu khag ati deena mani binu phani karibar kar heena
as mam jivan bandhu binu tohee jaun jad daiv jiavai mohee
जथा पंख बिनु खग अति दीना। मनि बिनु फनि करिबर कर हीना।।
अस मम जिवन बंधु बिनु तोही। जौं जड़ दैव जिआवै मोही।।
As a bird without wings, a snake without its jewel, or an elephant without its trunk is helpless, so would my life be without you, brother — if cruel fate keeps me alive at all.

- In grief: Someone tells you to stop crying because 'it was God's will'. You can have faith and still grieve; let yourself mourn your brother.
- When you feel alone: First Raksha Bandhan since your sibling passed, and the day feels empty. Light a diya by their photo and call a cousin who knew them.

जैसे पंख के बिना पक्षी, मणि के बिना साँप और सूँड़ के बिना हाथी अत्यंत दीन हो जाते हैं, वैसे ही हे भाई, तुम्हारे बिना मेरा जीवन होगा — यदि जड़ विधाता मुझे जीवित रखे।
मनुष्य रूप में भगवान भी भाई को खोने के डर से टूट जाते हैं। शोक कमज़ोरी या आस्था की कमी नहीं है। गहरा प्रेम करने का मतलब है कि कुछ बिछड़न अपने ही अंग खोने जैसी लगेगी।
