Ramcharitmanas 4.11.2 meaning
tara bikal dekhi raghuraya deenha gyan hari leenhee maya
chiti jal pavak gagan sameera panch rachit ati adham sareera
Seeing Tara distraught, Rama gave her wisdom and lifted her delusion: 'This body is made of five elements — earth, water, fire, sky and air — and it is a lowly, passing thing.'
What it means
Rama comforts the grieving queen Tara after her husband's death. The body is borrowed from the elements and returns to them. Seeing this clearly does not erase love, but it softens the sharpest edge of grief. How it helps in real life
- In grief: At your grandfather's cremation, the grief feels unbearable. Watch the fire return him to the elements, and let that bring a little quiet acceptance.
- Health & body: Obsessing over every grey hair and wrinkle in the mirror? Remember this body is borrowed; look after it, but stop the daily inspection.
Spoken by Rama.
