sunu jananee soi sutu badabhagee jo pitu matu bachan anuragee
tanay matu pitu toshanihara durlabh janani sakal sansara
सुनु जननी सोइ सुतु बड़भागी। जो पितु मातु बचन अनुरागी॥
तनय मातु पितु तोषनिहारा। दुर्लभ जननि सकल संसारा॥
Listen, mother: that son is truly fortunate who loves to follow his parents' words. A child who brings happiness to mother and father is rare in the whole world.

सुनो माता, वही पुत्र बड़भागी है जो माता-पिता की बात से प्रेम करता है। माता-पिता को संतुष्ट रखने वाला संतान सारे संसार में दुर्लभ है।
राम यह बात उसी सौतेली माँ से कहते हैं जिसने उन्हें वनवास दिलाया, बिना कड़वाहट के। मुश्किल में भी माता-पिता का आदर करना वह ताकत है जो कम लोगों में होती है।
