Prashna Upanishad 6.1 meaning

samoolo va esha parishushyati yonritam abhivadati tasman n-arhamy-anritam vaktum

Whoever speaks falsehood dries up from the very roots. That is why I cannot bring myself to tell a lie.

What it means
Asked a question he could not answer, Sukesha simply admitted he did not know rather than bluff. Lies may help for a moment, but they slowly dry up your inner life like a tree with damaged roots.

Spoken by Sukesha.
