patram n-aiva yada kareeravitape dosho vasantasya kim n-olookopy-avalokate yadi diva sooryasya kim dooshanam dhara n-aiva patanti chatakamukhe meghasya kim dooshanam yat poorvam vidhina lalatalikhitam tan marjitum kah kshamah

पत्रं नैव यदा करीरविटपे दोषो वसन्तस्य किं नोलूकोऽप्यवलोकते यदि दिवा सूर्यस्य किं दूषणम् । धारा नैव पतन्ति चातकमुखे मेघस्य किं दूषणं यत्पूर्वं विधिना ललाटलिखितं तन्मार्जितुं कः क्षमः ॥

If the karira bush has no leaves, is that spring's fault? If the owl can't see by day, is that the sun's fault? If raindrops don't fall into the chataka's beak, is that the cloud's fault? Who can wipe away what was written on the forehead long ago?

What it means

Not every shortfall is someone else's fault. Sometimes the limitation is in our own nature or situation. Stop blaming the world, accept what you can't change, and work with what you have.

अगर करील की झाड़ी पर पत्ते नहीं आते तो इसमें वसंत का क्या दोष? उल्लू दिन में नहीं देखता तो सूरज का क्या दोष? चातक के मुँह में बूँदें नहीं गिरतीं तो बादल का क्या दोष? पहले से माथे पर लिखा कौन मिटा सकता है?

हर कमी के लिए दूसरों को दोष देना ठीक नहीं। कभी सीमा हमारे स्वभाव या हालात में होती है। दुनिया को दोष देना छोड़िए, जो नहीं बदल सकता उसे स्वीकारिए और जो है उससे काम कीजिए।
