eke satpurushah pararthaghatakah svartham parityajanti ye samanyas tu parartham udyamabhritah svarth-avirodhena ye temee manusharakshasah parahitam svarthaya nighnanti ye ye tu ghnanti nirarthakam parahitam te ke na janeemahe

एके सत्पुरुषाः परार्थघटकाः स्वार्थं परित्यजन्ति ये सामान्यास्तु परार्थमुद्यमभृतः स्वार्थाविरोधेन ये । तेऽमी मानुषराक्षसाः परहितं स्वार्थाय निघ्नन्ति ये ये तु घ्नन्ति निरर्थकं परहितं ते के न जानीमहे ॥

Good people give up their own interests for others. Ordinary people help others as long as it doesn't hurt themselves. Those who destroy others' good for their own gain are demons in human form. Those who destroy it for no reason at all, we don't know what to call them.

What it means

There are levels of how we treat others. Aim at least for helping without harming yourself, and higher when you can. Never harm others for gain, and certainly never for nothing.

कुछ सज्जन दूसरों के लिए अपना स्वार्थ छोड़ देते हैं। साधारण लोग अपने स्वार्थ को नुकसान न हो तब तक दूसरों के लिए प्रयास करते हैं। जो अपने स्वार्थ के लिए दूसरों का हित नष्ट करते हैं वे मानव रूप में राक्षस हैं। पर जो बिना किसी कारण दूसरों का हित नष्ट करते हैं, उन्हें क्या कहें, हम नहीं जानते।

दूसरों से व्यवहार के कई स्तर हैं। कम से कम ऐसी मदद कीजिए जिससे आपका नुकसान न हो, और हो सके तो उससे आगे बढ़िए। स्वार्थ के लिए, और बेवजह तो कभी किसी का नुकसान मत कीजिए।
