Niti Shataka 7 meaning

svayattam ekantagunam vidhatra vinirmitam chadanam ajnatayah visheshatah sarvavidam samaje vibhooshanam maunam apanditanam

The creator made silence as a cover for ignorance: always in your own control, and wholly good. Especially in a gathering of experts, silence is the best ornament for those who don't know.

What it means
You don't have to speak on everything. When you are unsure, listening quietly protects your dignity and helps you learn. Silence is free, always available, and rarely regretted.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
