sampatsu mahatam chittam bhavaty-utpalakomalam
apatsu cha mahashailashila-sanghatakarkasham
संपत्सु महतां चित्तं भवत्युत्पलकोमलम् ।
आपत्सु च महाशैलशिलासङ्घातकर्कशम् ॥
In good times, the hearts of the great are soft as a lotus. In bad times, they become hard as a mass of rock from a great mountain.
