A man who is broke longs for a handful of barley; later, when he is rich, he thinks the whole earth is worth no more than a blade of grass. Because nothing is fixed, a rich man's state makes things seem big or small, swelling or shrinking them.

What it means
Our view of value shifts with our circumstances. What once felt like everything can later seem tiny. Remember your hard days when you're doing well; it keeps you humble and grateful.

Spoken by Bhartrihari.
