Mundaka Upanishad 1.2.7 meaning

plava hy ete adridha yajnaroopa ashtadash-oktam avaram yeshu karma etach chreyo yebhinandanti moodha jaramrityum te punar ev-api yanti

These rituals are leaky boats, unsteady rafts, with their eighteen performers carrying out lower forms of action. Fools who celebrate them as the highest good fall again and again into old age and death.

What it means
Outer ceremony alone cannot carry you across life's deep waters. Rituals can help, but treating them as the final goal is like trusting a leaky boat. Inner understanding is the real vessel.
