Mahabharata 5.40.11 meaning
idam cha tvam sarvaparam braveemi punyam padam tata mahavishishtam
na jatu kaman na bhayan na lobhad dharmam tyajej jeevitasy-api hetoh
Here is the highest thing I can tell you, the most sacred and excellent rule: never abandon dharma — not out of desire, not out of fear, not out of greed, not even to save your life.
What it means
Desire, fear and greed are the three big pressures that push people to compromise their values. Know where your line is, and hold it — even when the cost seems high.
