Mahabharata 5.36.35 meaning
na tan mitram yasya kopad bibheti yad va mitram shankiten-opacharyam
yasmin mitre pitareev-ashvaseeta tad vai mitram sangatan-eetarani
न तन्मित्रं यस्य कोपाद्बिभेति यद्वा मित्रं शङ्कितेनोपचर्यम्।
यस्मिन्मित्रे पितरीवाश्वसीत तद्वै मित्रं संगतानीतराणि॥
That is no friend whose anger you fear, or whom you must serve with caution. The friend you can trust like a father — that is a true friend. The rest are mere acquaintances.
What it means
If you are always walking on eggshells around someone, that's not real friendship. A true friend is someone you can relax with and trust completely. Value those few.हिंदी में अर्थ
वह मित्र नहीं जिसके गुस्से से डर लगे, या जिसके साथ सहमकर रहना पड़े। जिस पर पिता की तरह भरोसा किया जा सके, वही सच्चा मित्र है, बाकी सब बस जान-पहचान है।
अगर किसी के साथ हमेशा डर-डरकर रहना पड़े, तो वह सच्ची दोस्ती नहीं। सच्चा दोस्त वह है जिसके साथ आप बेफ़िक्र रह सकें।
