Mahabharata 5.34.45 meaning
jita sabha vastravata samasha gomata jita
adhva jito yanavata sarvam sheelavata jitam
जिता सभा वस्त्रवता समाशा गोमता जिता।
अध्वा जितो यानवता सर्वं शीलवता जितम्॥
Good clothes win over the assembly; owning cows wins over the craving for good food; a vehicle wins the road — but good character wins everything.
What it means
Possessions help in specific places: clothes impress, resources feed, a car gets you there. But character works everywhere, with everyone, every time. It is the one all-purpose asset.हिंदी में अर्थ
अच्छे वस्त्र वाला सभा जीत लेता है, गायों वाला अच्छे भोजन की इच्छा जीत लेता है, सवारी वाला रास्ता जीत लेता है — पर शीलवान सब कुछ जीत लेता है।
चीज़ें खास जगहों पर काम आती हैं — कपड़े, साधन, सवारी। पर अच्छा चरित्र हर जगह, हर किसी के साथ काम आता है।
