Mahabharata 3.313.129 meaning

anrishansyam paro dharmah paramarthach cha me matam anrishansyam chikeershami nakulo yaksha jeevatu

Kindness is the highest dharma, higher even than the greatest gain, in my view. I choose kindness. O Yaksha, let Nakula live.

What it means
Offered one brother's life, Yudhishthira chooses his stepmother's son over mighty Bhima or Arjuna. It made no strategic sense, but it was fair and kind. Sometimes the right choice is the one that is not about your own advantage.

Spoken by Yudhishthira.
