Mahabharata 3.29.6 meaning
na shreyah satatam tejo na nityam shreyasee kshama
iti tata vijaneehi dvayam etad asanshayam
न श्रेयः सततं तेजो न नित्यं श्रेयसी क्षमा।
इति तात विजानीहि द्वयमेतदसंशयम्॥
Fiery force is not always best, nor is forgiveness always best. Know this, my child, both have their place, beyond doubt.
What it means
Being endlessly forgiving can invite people to walk over you; being always aggressive makes enemies. Wisdom is knowing when to stand firm and when to let go.हिंदी में अर्थ
हमेशा तेज (उग्रता) अच्छा नहीं, न ही हमेशा क्षमा अच्छी है। बेटा, निश्चित जानो कि दोनों का अपना समय है।
हमेशा माफ़ करते रहोगे तो लोग फ़ायदा उठाएँगे, हमेशा सख़्त रहोगे तो दुश्मन बनेंगे। समझदारी यह जानने में है कि कब अड़ना है, कब छोड़ना।
