Mahabharata 2.55.4 meaning
madhu vai madhviko labdhva prapatam n-avabudhyate
aruhya tam majjati va patanam v-adhigachchati
मधु वै माध्विको लब्ध्वा प्रपातं नावबुध्यते।
आरुह्य तं मज्जति वा पतनं वाधिगच्छति॥
The honey-gatherer, finding honey, does not notice the cliff. He climbs after it and either drowns or falls.
What it means
Vidura warns that Duryodhana is chasing winnings at the dice game without seeing the danger. Greed narrows our sight to the prize and hides the drop beneath it.हिंदी में अर्थ
शहद पाने वाला शहद देखकर खाई को नहीं देखता। वह उसके पीछे चढ़ता है और या तो डूबता है या गिर जाता है।
विदुर चेताते हैं कि दुर्योधन जुए की जीत के पीछे खतरा नहीं देख रहा। लालच सिर्फ़ इनाम दिखाता है, नीचे की खाई छिपा देता है।
