Mahabharata 17.3.11 meaning

bhaktatyagam prahur atyantapapam tulyam loke brahmavadhyakritena tasman n-aham jatu kathanchan-adya tyakshyamy-enam svasukharthee mahendra

To abandon one who is devoted is called an extreme sin, equal in the world to killing a brahmin. So I will never, in any way, abandon him today for my own happiness, great Indra.

What it means
The dog turns out to be Dharma himself, testing Yudhishthira. Standing by those who depend on you, even the humblest, is among the highest values. Loyalty is a two-way promise.

Spoken by Yudhishthira.
