Mahabharata 12.21.2 meaning
santosho vai svargatamah santoshah paramam sukham
tushter na kinchit paratah susamyak paritishthati
सन्तोषो वै स्वर्गतमः सन्तोषः परमं सुखम्।
तुष्टेर्न किञ्चित्परतः सुसम्यक्परितिष्ठति॥
Contentment is the greatest heaven, contentment the highest happiness. There is nothing higher than contentment; it stands firm above all.
What it means
Heaven is not only a place after death; it is the state of being satisfied with what you have right now. Contentment does not mean giving up ambition. It means not letting ambition steal your peace.हिंदी में अर्थ
संतोष ही सबसे बड़ा स्वर्ग है, संतोष ही परम सुख है। संतोष से बढ़कर कुछ नहीं, वह सबसे ऊपर अडिग है।
स्वर्ग केवल मरने के बाद की जगह नहीं, अभी जो है उसमें संतुष्ट होना भी स्वर्ग है। संतोष का मतलब महत्वाकांक्षा छोड़ना नहीं, उसे अपनी शांति छीनने न देना है।
