Mahabharata 12.168.52 meaning

sukham nirashah svapiti nairashyam paramam sukham asham anasham kritva hi sukham svapiti pingala

The one without expectations sleeps peacefully; freedom from expectation is the highest happiness. Turning hope into no-hope, Pingala slept in peace.

What it means
Pingala waited all night for someone who never came, then let go of the waiting and finally slept. Not every expectation needs to be held onto. Releasing it can bring the rest you have been missing.

Spoken by Brahmin.
