Mahabharata 12.168.20 meaning
nalam sukhaya suhrido nalam duhkhaya shatravah
na cha prajnalam arthanam na sukhanam alam dhanam
नालं सुखाय सुहृदो नालं दुःखाय शत्रवः।
न च प्रज्ञालमर्थानां न सुखानामलं धनम्॥
Friends are not enough to make you happy, nor enemies enough to make you miserable. Intelligence alone does not bring wealth, and wealth alone does not bring happiness.
What it means
No single outside factor decides your wellbeing. Do not hand all your happiness to friends, all your misery to enemies, or all your hope to money. Peace is something you have to build from within as well.हिंदी में अर्थ
मित्र ही सुखी बनाने के लिए काफ़ी नहीं, न शत्रु दुखी बनाने के लिए काफ़ी हैं। बुद्धि अकेले धन नहीं दिलाती, और धन अकेले सुख नहीं देता।
कोई एक बाहरी चीज़ हमारी खुशी तय नहीं करती। अपनी सारी खुशी दोस्तों को, सारा दुख दुश्मनों को या सारी उम्मीद पैसे को मत सौंपो। शांति भीतर से भी बनानी पड़ती है।
