Mahabharata 12.167.20 meaning

mitradroho na kartavyah purushena visheshatah mitradhrun nirayam ghoram anantam pratipadyate

Betraying a friend is something one must never do. The one who betrays a friend falls into a terrible, endless hell.

What it means
Friendship runs on trust, and betraying it damages both the friend and yourself. The guilt and the broken reputation become a kind of hell you carry. Be loyal, especially when it costs you.

Spoken by Bhishma.
