Katha Upanishad 2.3.17 meaning

angushthamatrah purushontaratma sada jananam hridaye sannivishtah tam svach chareerat pravrihen munjad iv-esheekam dhairyena tam vidyach chukram amritam tam vidyach chukram amritam iti

The thumb-sized Person, the inner Self, always lives in the hearts of people. With patience, draw it out from your own body, as one draws the stalk from a reed. Know it as pure and deathless, yes, pure and deathless.

What it means
Separating who you truly are from the body and its moods takes patience, like gently drawing a stalk from a reed. Done carefully, it reveals something pure that never dies.

Spoken by Yama.
