Katha Upanishad 2.1.2 meaning
parachah kaman anuyanti balas te mrityor yanti vitatasya pasham
atha dheera amritatvam viditva dhruvam adhruveshv-iha na prarthayante
The childish chase outward pleasures and walk into the wide-spread net of death. But the wise, knowing what is deathless, do not look for the lasting among things that pass.
What it means
Expecting permanent happiness from temporary things always ends in disappointment. Wisdom is knowing where to look for what lasts, and enjoying the rest without clinging.
Spoken by Yama.
