Katha Upanishad 1.2.10 meaning

janamy-aham shevadhir ity-anityam na hy-adhruvaih prapyate hi dhruvam tat tato maya nachiketash chitognir anityair dravyaih praptavan asmi nityam

I know that worldly treasure does not last, and the lasting cannot be reached through what passes. Yet by building the Nachiketa fire with passing things, I have reached what is lasting.

What it means
We cannot buy what lasts, but we can use passing things wisely as steps toward it. Time, money and effort, offered well, can lead somewhere permanent.

Spoken by Yama.
