O Death, these things may not last beyond tomorrow, and they wear out the strength of all the senses. Even a whole lifetime is short. Keep your horses, your dancing and your songs.
What it means
Pleasures fade and quietly drain us. Nachiketa sees that even a long life is brief. Seeing the limits of what we chase is the first step to choosing something better.
Spoken by Nachiketa.
