Hitopadesha 3.63 meaning
na sa sabha yatra na santi vriddha vriddha na te ye na vadanti dharmam
dharmah sa no yatra na satyam asti satyam na tad yach chalam abhyupaiti
न सा सभा यत्र न सन्ति वृद्धा वृद्धा न ते ये न वदन्ति धर्मम्।
धर्मः स नो यत्र न सत्यमस्ति सत्यं न तद्यच्छलमभ्युपैति॥
It is no real assembly if there are no elders in it; they are no real elders if they do not speak what is right; it is not righteousness if there is no truth in it; and it is not truth if it carries deceit.
What it means
Wisdom in any group depends on experienced people willing to speak up honestly. Age without honesty is empty, and 'truth' twisted to deceive is not truth at all. Speak plainly when it matters.हिंदी में अर्थ
वह सभा सभा नहीं जिसमें बड़े-बुज़ुर्ग न हों; वे बुज़ुर्ग नहीं जो धर्म की बात न कहें; वह धर्म नहीं जिसमें सत्य न हो; और वह सत्य नहीं जिसमें छल हो।
किसी भी समूह की समझदारी अनुभवी लोगों के ईमानदारी से बोलने पर टिकी है। ईमानदारी के बिना उम्र खोखली है, और छल वाला 'सच' सच नहीं। ज़रूरत पर साफ बोलिए।
