na rajyam praptam ity-eva vartitavyam asampratam
shriyam hy-avinayo hanti jara roopam iv-ottamam
न राज्यं प्राप्तमित्येव वर्तितव्यमसाम्प्रतम्।
श्रियं ह्यविनयो हन्ति जरा रूपमिवोत्तमम्॥
Just because you have gained power, you should not behave improperly. Arrogance destroys good fortune the way old age destroys even the finest beauty.
